Ghosts of the Titanic: A Haunting Musical Journey

Unlike any other Titanic movie or musical: whereas the other dramas deal with the actual sinking, Ghosts of the Titanic deals with the aftermath. Although the story unfolds on the sunken Titanic, we take the audience to the wreck of the Titanic, two miles beneath the North Atlantic. The characters in the story are all ghosts that haunt the rusting hulk; and the tragic “night to remember” happened a hundred years ago.

Ghosts of the Titanic explores the eternal themes of life and death and afterlife. However, despite the ghostly cast, the show is not a dark journey; it is a reflection on life from the other side of life, and a life affirming celebration of the infinite possibilities in living each day to its fullest!

Ghosts of the Titanic discovers many themes, such as regret, vanity, faith, duty, destiny and the triumph of love over death. The moods of Ghosts of the Titanic are as varied and kaleidoscopic as the moods of the souls that haunt the wreck: Captain Smith is still duty bound to bring everyone home safe; Jack Phillips is still at his post at the telegraph key, desperately trying to get help; and despite the crates of tennis racquets and tennis balls in the hold ( an actual fact), a tennis pro can’t get a game; the Stratus’s are still reliving, sans regret, their decision to stay together; a shipboard gigolo is desperately trying to hide from the girls he seduced, but the biggest ship afloat may as well be a rowing boat; there are letters home, both funny and touching; and the steerage passengers sing of their dreams of a better life on the golden shore of America. There are many other stories and situations. Some of the ghosts realize they have drowned, other are unaware, and a few in denial.

In the end, Ghosts of the Titanic is an uplifting, cautionary tale; a unique and haunting journey that reminds us that we should live life to its fullest NOW.
